WHERE DID GRUNGE COME FROM?

October 09, 2017

Where did the subculture grunge come from? How did become so popular? Is it Retro?

These are all of the questions i've asked myself throughout looking into the subculture of grunge.
I've found that the term ''grunge'' is used to define a specific moment in the 20th century of music and fashion. Along with the youth movements often associated and compared to grunge, linked with hippies and punks.

Grunge opened the door to recycled clothes for everyone who loves DIY ( I mean who doesn't?!) Grunge fashion was all about that messy hair, carless makeup and people who wanted to be known for their individuality.

The early grunge movement revolved around Seattle's independent record label.
By the early 1990s its popularity had spread, with grunge bands appearing in California, then emerging in other parts of the United States and Australia, and as you can tell the fan base for grunge gradually became more popular!

With the success of the bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam the popularity of alternative rock made grunge more popular! Who knew that half of the bands in the 90's influenced modern rock and pop today!
